All props provided, please come and enjoy a 90 minute class and reconnect with yourself and let yourself unwind from your everyday.
I am a complete beginner, is that okay?
Absolutely. All of our teachers are able to teach and welcome beginners. This type of yoga is slow and gentle, it is for all levels.
What is restorative yoga?
Restorative yoga is a healing practice where we restore our nervous systems and allow the systems in our body to return to a natural balance. It was originally designed for those recovering from illness or injury but is now very popular due to the high amount of stress in our lives. All poses are done on the floor and we use props to get us into the poses.
What do I wear?
Comfortable, easy to move in, layered clothing is best.
Do I need to bring anything with me?
We have a fully stocked studio with all the equipment and support necessary.
I have an injury or chronic condition, will that cause any problems?
All of our teachers are able to modify and adjust the poses to suit individual needs. We are also available for private consultations and sessions, to create a practice that is perfect for you!
I am really curious, but feel a bit self-conscious, what should I do?
We offer smaller classes, usually 8-12 people, so that each student can receive individualization attention from the teacher. Also, there is an assistant is each class to help adjust and ensure that everyone has their needs met.
Can I do Restorative Yoga even if I am not flexible?
Yes! In restorative yoga we use many props such as bolsters, blocks and blankets to support you so that you can relax into the pose. This practice is not about stretching or strengthening it is purely relaxing and letting go.
I see that there are so many styles of Yoga out there. How do I know which style is most beneficial to me?
Any one of them will help you. The best thing to do is sample a few classes of different styles and go with the teacher you like the best. The teacher is more important than the style. Find a time and class that suits your schedule. The important thing is to get started.
Will Restorative Yoga help me lose weight?
Yoga can make you look and feel better, regardless of your weight. Restorative yoga will not help you to burn any calories, but it will allow the adrenals to cool down and regulate. Meaning your body will stop producing the stress hormones that often lead to weight gain.
